Popular Marathi actor Kshitish Date is all set to make his television comeback with the upcoming show Bal Gangadhar Tilak. The actor will be playing the title role and he is excited for the same. Kshitish rose to fame with the superhit political drama film Dharamveer where he played the role of Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde. Kshitish is now happy to play yet another challenging character on-screen and shared his happiness. Kshitish said, "This show is a biography of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Lokmanya Tilak, who started the Swarajya movement and an unusual personality who was born on Maratha soil. He has a special place in the heart of all Maharashtrians. As I am studying for this show, I know that Tilak's biography is far beyond what is taught and then read in school. The team is trying its best to showcase the biography of Lokmanya Tilak in a very good manner. I am very happy that I am an important part of this show and this is going to be influential in the current world of Marathi serials." Kshitish further said that the upcoming show will also highlight Lokmanya's personal life on TV for the first time. He said, "This character is very challenging. All we know about Lokmanya Tilak is that he was very strict and disciplined. But apart from that, people will learn a lot about his relationship with his wife, his relationship with his students, his relationship with people from different walks of life, and his relationship with the role models of his generation. I have also started reading again because of the role. This role is testing my acting skills"

'My great grandfather and Lokmanya Tilak were imprisoned together in Mandalay jail, feel honoured to play Tilak role's today," says, 'Lokmanya' actor Neil Deshpande Actor Neil Deshpande has been roped in to play the teenage life of Bal Gangadhar Tilak in the Marathi show Lokmanya. The actor is a devotee of Lokmanya. He and his family have a history with the activist. Neil also said that it is an honour for him to play the role. Talking about this show, Neil said, "This show is based on the life of Lokmanya Tilak. We have never seen the life of Lokmanya Tilak from this aspect before, but now we are going to see it through this show. We are going to see the journey of Tilak from childhood to becoming Lokmanya for people." Elaborating on his role, Neil said, "I am playing the childhood and teenage role of Lokmanya Tilak. It is a great honor for me to get the opportunity to play this role. When I got this role, I felt that this big opportunity fits me because my great-great-grandfather was with Lokmanya Tilak in Mandalay jail in imprisonment. I am very lucky to have got an opportunity to work in this series" Sharing a bond with co-actors, Neil said, "My entire team is very supportive and there is a friendly atmosphere with everyone on the shooting sets. I learn a lot from my team. I am happy to work with such a wonderful team and in the show. I have not worked in any show before. This is my first TV serial and I am very happy that it is related to Lokmanya. Earlier I have worked on 2 films and done a one-act. This show is a different experience for me"
